THE ACADEMY COURSES
Studying the Art of Flower Design
There are many florist courses but very few in flower design as an art form. Students will be able to develop their skills whilst studying the principles and theories of flower design. We are confident that students will be able to choose a course that suits their specific interest and level. We ensure that students are supported in the selection of their course through the adoption of a skills diagnostic and short one to one interview. We fully appreciate that students have differing skills and knowledge therefore it is important to us that they are studying the course that is right for them.
Many of our courses give access to ‘live’ projects, industry experts and work placements which provide a unique opportunity for students to understand the skills and knowledge required in delivering a ‘live’ event and working in the field. Students will also have access to visiting speakers, demonstrations from experts and if studying on certain courses (15 weeks or more) the opportunity of a work placement.
Students will be assessed through project briefs and given a clear indication of the measurement used and the expectations of the respective assessor/tutor. Students will be given a clear indication of their level of achievement, particularly those studying on the Classic and intensive courses.
Under the direction of Gillian Wheeler the course team offer a variety of expertise in Flower Design. All our tutors are qualified to Post Graduate level in Floral Design and have taught within both Further and Higher Education. The team gained their experience at the University of the Arts, London (UAL) having developed and delivered the ABC Diploma in Flower Design, the Foundation Degree in Floral Design and Events Management and the Post Graduate Certificate in Floral Design and Enterprise. Gill and her team achieved the highest level of student satisfaction in the University over a number of years.
Our dedicated team are responsible for identifying the suitability of ‘live’ projects, industry liaison and work placements. Students will be encouraged to participate in some or all of these activities during their course and in certain circumstances students may be offered the opportunity to participate in such activities post course (insurance and visa permitting).
We will strive to ensure that we maintain the quality of our delivery, develop industry contacts, work placements and identify the suitability of all ‘live’ projects within the ethos and spirit of our mission and relationship charter.
Our tutors, technical and administrative teams deliver the courses within highly developed and integrated quality systems
All students will receive an attendance diploma which will identify the course title, duration, and for the Classic course, a brief statement of the topics studied and the activities undertaken.
