Just like the fashion industry, the floral design world has its own distinct styles that enter in and out of trend and in recent years we have seen the rise in popularity of Vintage Flowers.
Antique looking roses, for example, are often pictured in collectable items of yester-year, be it in period teapots and teacups, retro glassware, vintage bottles, ceramic cake stands or against aged photograph albums or stained lace.
This special, one day course will trace the glamour of the vintage style and explore creative ways in which it is possible to recreate the nostalgia and romance of yesterday through flowers. As well as identifying specifically vintage looking flowers, containers, colours and designs, you will also be shown various techniques in how to age your very own vases for that complete period look. Throughout the day, you will make both a stunning ‘vintage’ inspired hand-tied and a distinctly ‘vintage’ arrangement to enjoy at home.
‘We used the prettiest flowers, some I’d never seen before. Lilac roses and aged pink hydrangeas. Gorgeous!’
‘It’s amazing what you can do with just one wrap of miniature spray roses’
‘We made bouquets similar to the ones seen on Downton Abbey and other period dramas. A dream come true’
‘Teacups, teacups, teacups!’
